A Day at IKEA

Since we don't have to go to work until Tuesday, we have some spare time to get prepared for our trip to Kaarst next week and still enough that we could go to IKEA for (almost) the whole of Saturday.

We particularly wanted to have a look at their ALGOT wall storage system, which we are planning to install in our walk-in wardrobe.

What also caught our eye was the BESTÅ system – a fully customisable set of cabinets for the living room. Since the wall where our television will go is four meters long, we will need something to fill up some of the spare space (alternative – huge TV? No, probably not). Since this is the only wall with no windows/doors in it, it will also be a good place to have some storage cupboards.

We also took a look at IKEA's lighting range but none of their ceiling lights really caught our attention, but we did buy a couple of table lamps.

For the living room, we have already ordered a Philips Hue Smart Lighting system starter kit, as being able to control the brightness and colour of the lighting seems like a good idea. With the new table lamps, we will be able to try this out in the coming days, before we finalise the lighting plan.

Our first invoice (from the Notary) has also arrived in the post. Up until now, we haven't really paid any money out – apart from for diesel and the odd Sausage & Egg McMuffin, here or there!
